After a very long car ride, Addie needed some spoiling. Grandma and papa Hansen brought out some bubbles. Addie loved it and became a happy girl again.

Spoiled baby, huh? But she deserved it. Eight hour in the car in three days, plus lots of hours in a backpack. For a very mobile baby that's a lot of time not being allowed to move! And oh boy, she let us know she was not very happy about it in the car. But overall she was a very good little girl. Not that we will take her on a long car trip again soon...but she did very good for a nine month old.
We went to Bryce Canyon over Easter weekend with Jaron's parents and sister Jenna. It was a lot of fun! We used the backpack again that my parents got for Jaron and Addie.

This is her long suffering look. She wasn't too happy about being in the backpack, but not enough to fuss about it. Just look grumpy.

It was very very cold. And the Saturday morning was just too cold to hike, so we drove around the park and stopped at each of the lookout points. And even then....Addie had to look like a little Eskimo baby. It was in the low 20s and windy, making it feel about 0 degrees. Even with how pretty it was we did not stay long to see the pretty views. As a mark of how cold it was, Adelynn did not fight us with all her layers.

Poor thing, her cheeks got all chapped from the wind. And it was one of the few times she was upset about getting out of her car seat instead of getting back in

Even with the freezing weather, it was a fun trip. It was our first family vacation with a baby, and first car trip. She was very good in the car, even if she was very vocal about how she absolutely did not like being left in the car seat for four hours straight.

Happy Easter everyone!
Happy Easter from this cute little bunny!!

We sure love her!!!

We went hiking this past weekend, up Adam's Canyon, which is about ten minutes from our house. It was the first hike Addie had ever been on, and we were so excited to try out her hiking backpack that my parents gave Jaron for his birthday last year. Adelynn did amazing. She never cried, she actually never even fussed. She was able to nap some, didn't pull Jaron's hair, and was able to stay somewhat warm the whole time. And all this is especially amazing because what we thought was a 3 or 4 mile hike was actually a 7 mile hike. But it was very fun, and we loved the backpack!

It was very cold. We actually didn't do the whole hike because the path turned into ice, literally. We could physically go no further. We watched this guy brave the path and he quickly came sliding back down. We wrapped Jaron's jacked around Addie like a scarf. All you could see was her little face poking out. So cute.

I fed Addie cherrios for part of it, and Jaron says that was his favorite part because he could hear Addie going "num, num" in his ear. That's what she does now when she think something is especially delicious.

Overall it was a very fun hike!! The backpack was a hit, and Addie was so impressive, we are so proud of her.

Addie can feed herself with a fork!! It is so darling! If you slide some food on it, she will put in her mouth and then hold the fork back to you for more!

Adelynn updates:
-She is nine months old now, turned that on Monday. It's insane how fast the time has gone.
-We are doing better on sippy cups. She is also more willing to feed herself a bottle too. We're working on this independence thing
-She says "num num num" when she likes what she's eating. We don't know where she got it from, none of us taught her that, but it is so cute! She also bangs her hands on her tray when she wants more. And grunts and grunts and grunts. She is very impatient.
-She loves to be walked around. She has also taken a few independent steps between mom and dad. We were all going crazy. Won't be long now until she's walking all over by herself.
-Night time has greatly improved. It is like night and day difference. It's funny, want to know what the trick was? A stuffed animal. She just wants something to cuddle in the night! And we were doing everything in every baby book, everything online, everything the doctor said, everything we've ever heard, and nothing was working! Then one desperate night I threw in her stuffed monkey and she didn't wake us the rest of the night!! I still keep shaking my head, because that is all it took. And everything we've ever read or heard tells us NOT to put anything in her bed with her because it can be a smothering hazard. Well, I think a small, tag-less, stuffed animal is worth the risk, especially if she is starting to sleep through the night. And mind you this is the 9 month old who is almost walking and already trying to climb out of her crib. I think she's strong enough to pull the animal off her face if she can't breathe.
-She discovered grass for the first time this week. It's finally getting warm enough here to take her outside. She thought it was the coolest thing in the world, and kept trying to eat it. She would pat pat it, discovering the texture. She also loved walking on and it and feeling it with her toes. That's my girl, loving the feel of grass on my bare feet.
-She loves bubbles. She's not quite sure what to do with them, but she follows them with her eyes and tries to catch them, though most of the time they are out of her reach.
-She dances to music. It is so darling.
-She can shake her head and clap her hands and dance at the same time. I'm very impressed, because I'm pretty sure I can't do that.
-She crosses her feet all the time, and has been doing it since birth. I'm sure you've seen it in the pictures I've posted. It is so darling and gets us every time.

Crazy Hansen update: This whole moving to Ohio thing is starting to seem more and more real to us everyday. We are looking at houses, thinking about parking pass at the University (that's a no, $800 a year!!), planning the move up there, who we are going to ask to pack the truck...it's crazy. Addie is growing older and we are going to medical school. Since when was a college graduated married (almost) military medical school wife with a 9 month old girl? I don't know either.

A few days ago I was cooking dinner and Addie wanted to help. Little cutie. She was a good helper!! And the silicone spatula tasted really good in her opinion.

We got Addie a ball pit tent a few weeks ago. Addie loves it, especially going in and out of the door. The other day she was playing in it and managed to collapse it while she was inside it, and got trapped. She didn't seem to mind, but took it as a challenge to get herself out of it.

This picture is from this morning. Addie sleeps in such funny positions. It is darling.

These are some older videos of Addie, mostly within the last month. Little cutie. Hopefully the videos work!

This is a video of Addie calling for her daddy (who was at work) for what we call a daddy rescue. She absolutely hates getting dressed after a bath, and this is what was happening in the video. She wanted to be rescued from mom.

This was when Addie was sick with a fever for several days. Her fever broke for about 20 minutes and all of a sudden she was in a good mood. She had been saying "mom" all day long, but in a sad pitiful voice saying that she wanted mommy to make it better. And then when she was feeling better all she wanted to say was "dada" and in a happy voice! No thanks for mama!!

This is Addie while she was supposed to be napping. You can see it was working splendidly. We gave up and took a bath instead.

Addie had a little incident with prunes the other day. Grandma was feeding her when Adelynn suddenly rubbed her mouth and then her eye. It looks like a little baby black eye!!

She looks so pitiful!

But no worries, we wiped it up.

I think she was actually kind of proud of her handiwork.

Jaron made a scrumptious lemon chiffon cake. It not only looked amazing, it was so super yummy! No leftovers, the cake was gone in one night.

Addie news:
-Nights are once again hard. And by hard, I mean that the past few nights she has been waking up in the low teens. We are exhausted and starting to get desperate. I gave her tylenol before bed and she seemed to do a little better, so maybe she wasn't feeling well or something. We're going to do it again tonight.
-Addie loves strawberry fruit leather. I don't feel so bad giving her some because I was the one who made and I know exactly what's in it- just strawberries. But even natural sugar I want to give her only so much. Jello too, she is a big fan of. I gave her a few tiny bites of mine and she threw quite the tantrum when I wouldn't give her anymore.
-Addie is a fan of self feeding now. She will even feed herself with a fork. You put the food on it for her and she knows exactly what to do with it. She even hands it back to you to do again. Now if only we could get her to do this with the bottle.
-She dances to music, and claps her hands and laughs. She is a big music lover I think.
-She loves to dance with mom and dad, when we pick her up and twirl her around.
-Her hair is almost long enough to put in a pony tail. It's actually probably long enough, just not thick enough. The pony tail is slippery and her hair slips right out of it.
-She loves her toys. It's really cute to see her play with them all.
-Noises scare her. I think it's just a phase though. Vacuum, blender, pots and pans banging, any noise like that.
-When she first wakes up she wants to be held. Don't you dare put her down and walk away. Jaron made the mistake of doing that yesterday (though it probably is my mistake because I told him to do it) to make her a bottle, and she was not pleased.
-She has the prettiest smile in the world, and her eyes are the most beautiful blue you will ever see
-Church has gotten even worse. She will not sit for even five minutes. And she screams at the top of her lungs (her new thing) and cries and fusses and throws her toys. Poor Jaron spent all three hours (like literally all three hours) of church in the halls fighting with a baby. And the sad thing is that I think the baby won.
-She is still a couch tatoe. She loves movies, any movie, and will sit and stare at the tv. Kind of makes me worried for the future....so I try to limit her movie time to 30 minutes a week, if that. Probably kind of controlling of me, but I don't want her to be too much of a movie lover when she grows up

We are the coolest family in the world, and definitely the cutest with Adelynn as part of it.

We went to the Provo City Center Temple open house yesterday. Jaron couldn't come because he had to work (so sad!!). We loved it, it was so beautiful. Addie had a hard time because she missed her nap, but she looks so beautiful in her pretty white dress.

We also went to the duck pond, Addie's first time going to one. She looks so big standing up by herself.

Addie's newest:
-She started saying a new word yesterday, and maybe even her first sentence. She says "buh-bul". Bubble! She loves her bubble baths! She also started saying "dada bubble". I guess she prefers him giving her a bath over me! Not surprised though, for Addie everything with daddy is a privilege. Her vocabulary now consists of "mama", "dada", "papa", and "bubble", learned in that order.
-She waves all the time. She loves it. She waves to herself in the mirror, and even her reflection on the side of the car.
-She claps all the time now too. And she gets this big grin every time too.
-I got gas for the car today, and I peeked in the window while filling up and she was in there clapping and laughing and singing to herself. It was so cute.
-she has stood up by herself several times now, unsupported, but only when she doesn't realize she's doing it
-I think she's going to have a perma-bruise on her forehead. She is constantly getting bonks, falling, crawling into things, pulling things onto her head. Today she face planted on the corner of one of her wooden blocks. She got a nice scrape on her poor little head. It was traumatic, poor girl.
-Addie has a head start on potty training. Yep, she poops and pees in the toilet already! Been doing so since about 7 months. But before you congratulate me, let me explain. She wants to go potty as soon as I undress her for bath time. Every time. Every day. No matter what time of the day. I stick her in the tub, and inevitably she starts straining. I grab her and plop her on the toilet and she goes. Easiest potty clean up I have every done. So once a day she goes potty like a big girl. Not to trying to train, more to save me a mess of cleaning up poopy water from a tub. I've done that once before already, actually several times already. I find this the easiest solution to going potty without a diaper on.

Adelynn is so fun, and I hope she makes you all jealous! :)
