Happy Halloween from the cutest little puppy!

Addie continues to grow faster and faster each day. She rolls over all the time now, has discovered her toes, and we have started her on solids. She is still the happy little bundle of energy and giggles all the time. Yesterday she woke us up at 5am, with her just giggling to herself. I wonder what happy stories she was telling herself. She talks and babbles all the time now too. Our little baby is growing up!

These pictures are from the first time she tried solid food. As you can tell, she was not impressed. And her opinion has not improved over time. She has tried rice cereal, bananas, peaches, applesauce, and oatmeal. 

She actually doesn't like food in general. She fights her bottle, and mostly eats in her sleep because that's when she's take it. What kind of baby doesn't want to eat!? She has a tired cry, a mommy cry, a hurt cry, but no hungry cry!

Look at that disgusted face. She makes it each time something is put in her mouth! The one thing we found that she likes is chocolate frosting. Some accidentally got on her toys without us realizing, and we found her furiously licking it all off her toys. Guess this girl likes chocolate!

I was in the middle of changing her diaper and getting her dressed when I needed to leave the room real quick to grab something. This is what I found a few moments later after coming back.

She's discovered her toes! It's a fantastic toy that is always attached. Works for me!

Last few pictures, I promise. This little baby is a momma's girl, hard core. She has a "I want mommy cry" that sounds like she is saying "mom". I wonder when she will realize that she is actually saying the name of the person she wants.

Just look at that face! Oh my goodness, doesn't your heart just melt? And look at that hair!!! She was on a fleece blanket and I was trying to get her to go to sleep, so I covered her eyes with the blanket. Baby girl wasn't having it so she was turning her head from side to side. When I uncovered her this is what I found!

Adelynn wants so bad to be big and independent, and wants to feed herself the bottle. So so darling, but she has some trouble aiming for her mouth. It sure provides some entertainment for us on this end though.

She is such a fun little thing and interacting with us so much now. She laughs, giggles, screeches and squawks, and lifts her arms towards us when she wants to be picked up. She's our little bundle of energy and is always always smiling. Except when she is teething, which she has been recently. Look at this picture...

Poor baby girl was having a rough afternoon and just wanted cuddles from her daddy. Her gums were swollen, cheeks flushed, and just all around miserable. We gave her some tylenol just before this picture was taken, and as soon as it kicked in she fell asleep. Poor baby girl has been doing better, that was a bad day for her. Teething is so cruel for little ones!

A personality trait we have noticed is that Addie loves loves loves to watch tv. It doesn't matter what it is. Star trek with papa, general conference, or whatever we happen to be watching at the time. She will zone into it, stare at the tv, and stay like that until it is over. This girl loves her some tv! A few times I have used it as a babysitter, I'm ashamed to say. When she's needy but I need to do something where I can't hold her (like shower or use the bathroom) I turn on bubble guppies on the ipad. She will stop wriggling and crying and let me to whatever it is I need to do. I come back in the room to find her laughing and giggling along with the show. I think she can recognize the sound of laughter.

This was taken while Jaron and I were away and his parents were babysitting Addie for us. I believe they were watching Blind Side. We received this picture in a text caption "couch tatoes x3". We laughed so hard when we saw it. Notice how she is leaning forward to watch? Gotta love that little girl!

In other news, I have to take a moment to brag about how awesome my husband is. Jaron got accepted into The Ohio State Medical School! Not only is it an amazing and competitive school, it is tied for our number one choice! I'm so proud of Jaron and how hard he worked through undergrad, MCAT, shadowing, volunteering, and everything else required for medical school applications. We are so excited and, as Jaron keeps saying, "I'm going to be a doctor!"

This little sweetheart turned 3 months old yesterday. I cannot believe how fast it has gone. It seems like I was just pregnant with her a week ago. Already she has grown so much.

She is quickly discovering the world around her. She has started playing with toys this past week. She stares at them, concentrating so hard, and about half the time she manages to grab them, and maybe a quarter of the time she is able to bring the toy to her mouth. It's a working progress, but she's getting better at it everyday. She sits up so well. As you can see in the picture she is already in a high chair, even though she isn't on solid food yet. She just loves to sit at our level, so the high chair is a great way for her to do it. She will sit in it for a long time, while we eat, cook, clean, etc. The best part is that it has wheels. We wheel her around the kitchen and dining room, and she loves it. Though its hard to tell who loves it more: me or her.

It is so cool to be able to see the world through her eyes. How new everything is. How she loves bright and bold colors, loves light, and turns toward you whenever she hears your voice. It gives you a new perspective on things.

We loved visiting my family in Ohio for a week. And Addie is a pro at flying. She hardly cried and was such a doll the whole time. I hope she stays like this when she's older. And boy, does that girl love an audience! She smiled at anybody and everybody who would catch her eye. She also flirted with the two guys next to us on the flight home. They were both dads and, unsurprisingly, suckers for cute baby girls. They made faces at her, got her talking and giggling, and she loved every second of it. I'm so glad she's a happy baby.

I have a tragic story to tell. Addie has been scratching herself with her nails lately, and I gathered up the courage and tried to cut her fingernails. The first nail I did fine, but the second nail I clipped the tip of her finger. The poor little girl cried, there was blood, and Jaron who was in the other room came rushing in thinking something was wrong. I still cringe when thinking about it. I wanted to clip the tip of my finger to see how I liked it. I wanted to throw away the nail clippers, run them over with the car, burn them, drop them into the ocean, and crush them into a million little pieces. The nail clippers hurt my little girl! I did none of those things, but I sure cried harder than Addie did. Adelynn was quickly calmed down, she was probably more scared then anything, and was back to her smiley self just minutes after. I don't think I've ever felt more guilty, and I feel it again every time I see the cut on her finger. Jaron assures me that it happens to every mom, multiple times, but I don't think I'll be cutting her nails again anytime soon. She can just wear socks on her hands if she keeps scratching herself. Much less painful for both of us.

Addie got blessed on September 6th. My dad came in town to be there, and we so grateful he came. My sister-in-law Rachael, who is a talented photographer, took some pictures for us so we could remember that day. Addie was so pretty in her white dress, though she hated it. She wouldn't smile while she was in it, and was actually very grumpy. But she consented to have some pictures taken, if at least not smiling, she wasn't crying either.

Addie is such a happy little baby, and we love her so much! I have so many pictures I could post here of her smiles. Not only does she have great smiles, but she makes some of the best faces. I will have to post them, but, alas, it will have to be on another post on another day. But here are some smiley ones, fresh from a bath:

We've been visiting my parents in Ohio this week, and having a blast. My two older sisters are here, as well as Addie's older cousin Ivan. Everyone is enjoying getting to know Addie, and my parents are loving having everyone home. My mom keeps saying it feels like Thanksgiving, and it does.

My dad set up a swing for the grandbabies, and Addie had to try it out.

We have also enjoyed going on walks and pushing the babies in strollers. It's autumn here in Ohio, and we didn't want Addie to get cold so we tried to find a hat that would sort of work. We were unsuccessful, though the baby looks as darling as ever.

Adelynn has recently discoverd her tongue. She sticks it out when she smiles, and plays games with her daddy sticking her tongue out at him. She will also lick anything near the vicinity of her mouth. She doesn't always suck on it, but she will lick it. Blankets, her hands, pacifier, mommy's hands...

It is darling, especially when she smiles!

Addie had her two month doctors appointment today, and she had to get shots. I feel like the worst mom in the world. Poor little thing cried like I've never heard her cry. Afterwards she looked at me with this wounded expression of broken trust. It broke my heart. She's asleep now, all wrapped up snugly in a blanked in her swing. I admit all I want to do is cuddle her.

She weighs 11.4 pounds, is 22.5 inches long, and is right where she should be for everything. She's a healthy and happy little girl.

So I guess having little one turn two months old is excuse enough to start a family blog. That and having family scattered across the country (which is actually a recent development) with anxious aunts, uncles, and grandparents wanting pictures and updates, as well as a mom who doesn't scrapbook but wants to keep some sort of a family record. This will mostly be pictures of little Adelynn, which is who you all want to see anyway. I might throw in some updates for Jaron and I, but really this is about Addie, and her younger siblings when they come. Living so far away from family is a challenge, but I want to make sure our children stay a part of your lives.

Feel free to save pictures and make them your background, print them out, share them at work, and brag about your little granddaughter/niece as much as you please. What can I say? She is just the cutest!
